Wordless Wednesday on Tuesday

Not quite such a today. That's because it's Tuesday :).

Daffodils

I wander'd lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

William Wordsworth (1770-1850)

Wordless Wednesday - Winter Blues

Not so wordless this week. Today's pics show the eleventh century church at Oxwich, on the Gower Peninsula, near Swansea, in Wales. Unusually, the church is situated just above the beach. During summer months, it's concealed by leafy trees. In winter, it reveals itself.

Here's a closer, not so blue, look.

There is a spooky legend associated with the church. A peculiar, mythical creature, with the head and shoulders of a man, and the body of a horse, is said to roam the churchyard on moonlit nights, before making its way down to the beach, and disappearing. I won't be carrying out a midnight ghostwatch at the location any time soon!

Wordless Wednesday - Monochrome Minimalism

Taken at Port Eynon, on the Gower Peninsula, early one hazy, summer morning. Despite the camera being on a colour setting, the early morning light and haze conspired to create this minimalistic, monochrome effect.

Wordless Wednesday - a dying tradition

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, once stayed at this old cottage. It's in the coastal village of Oxwich, on the Gower Peninsula, near Swansea, in south-west Wales.

P.S. Apologies to anyone not able to see the pic earlier. As I already had it hosted on Photobucket, I just linked to it there. But Photobucket is pickled today. So I've now uploaded the pic to Blogger.
