I made a lovely pea and ham soup yesterday. I bought a ham hock in the market, and boiled it to make stock. After all the ham had been removed today, I gave the bone to Alfie. He was overjoyed.
It's the first time I've given him a bone. He has no back teeth, so I've always been wary of giving him bones. But after seeing him demolish a rawhide chew with his front teeth, I decided to risk. I'm so glad I did, because he had so much fun with it.
It never ceases to amaze me how delighted animals are with such simple things. I think we can learn a lot from them. Perhaps if humans were more appreciative of life's simple things, our society might be at least a little less messed up than it currently is.

You're so right. It takes so little to make a dog happy.
