Doggy undelayed

Mary, the lady at the RSPCA, called me earlier. The animal shelter are going to lend me a gate to keep Clancy - or Alfie as he'll be from tomorrow - safe. So, I'm picking him at lunchtime tomorrow. My friends, Mel and Bob, are going to drive me there and back. Let's hope it's a nice day, so I can take him for a good sniff around the neighbourhood.

Oh, Siani - I'm so glad! Fingers crossed for good weather. You must be so excited!

Stephen wants me to tell you how pleased he is, too. His software's packed up, and we're waiting for new stuff to arrive.

Thanks, folks. I hope Stephen's new software arrives ASAP.

Ah a doggy. Wonderful! Even if it put the furry foursome's collective noses out of joint we would get one if one of us was home.

Yay for your puppy!

Here's a piece of advice on his name: pets often find it hard to get used to being called a new name when they've been called an old name for any length of time.

So in changing your puppy's name, here is what I would suggest: at first, call him just by his old name but then when he comes to you, slip in a few mentions of his new name. It will help him to associate the two sounds. As you've had him longer, then begin calling him by his new name more and more often and in the absense of using his old name. You'll be able to avoid confusion and get him acclimated faster.

Can't wait to see more pics of the little one!
