Thursday evening's stroll on Swansea beach is one of the nicest I've had in a long time. I really should make the effort to go there more often. It might not have cliffs and rock pools, but it has plenty worth seeing, all the same.
It's nice to see the bay being used these days. When I first moved to Swansea, almost twenty three years ago, hardly anyone went near the beach. It was a vile, smelly, sewage-infested place in those days. It's hard to believe it's the same place.
If some of these shots look a little strange, it's because I used almost full zoom on my camera, and it's not the most powerful model around. But I was more concerned with capturing a snapshot, than creating art.
Rather him than me. At least he had the good sense to run on hard sand.
Not quite sure what was going on here. I think someone may have hopped out to pull it ashore.
It seems Swansea beach is a mecca for all sorts of activities these days.
The sun was starting to dip towards the horizon. I was tempted to stay for sunset, but it had been a long day and I was tired. I think these people had the right idea, packing up for the day.
Before we headed off, I spotted two little wading birds playing in the waves of the incoming tide. I have no idea if they were sandpipers or dunlins. I took loads of pics and some video, which I'll include with my next post. Maybe someone can help me identify them?

Have they just left the beach end buttress of Victoria Bridge for kids to fall off !?
Very surprised to see bracken so red with you - not turned here yet. As ususal, it's felt autumnal since mid July but red bracken is more an October thing in Gower.

Thanks, Aileni - I thought they were dunlin. I've often seen them along shore lines and always thought they were sandpipers, although I'm glad I looked into it a bit further. I'd have looked a bit of a twit if I'd definitively stated they were sandpipers. I think the bracken's turned red early this year. I also saw autumn fungi on the cliffs at Rhossili, in early July. I'm starting to wonder if we have such things as seasons any more.
