Licky dog

I may be taking Jake to see the vet soon. He's not ill, but he's absolutely obsessed with licking people and objects. No cushion, floor or piece of furniture is safe from him, and he keeps leaving wet patches all over my settee.


Why on earth would a dog lick furniture? I know it's far better than chewing furniture, but it just seems so bizarre. I often have to stop him licking me, too, as he keeps going for five minutes or more at a time. Anyone have any idea what's up with him? Or is this just normal dog behaviour?
