PhotoHunt: Hot

This week's theme is Hot. Luckily, it's a nice, easy theme for me. First up is a shot taken from my living room window, of the annual Bonfire Night fireworks display. Also known as Guy Fawkes Night, the festival takes place every year in the UK, on November 5th. It originally commemorated the failed Gunpowder Plot, staged by Guy Fawkes and his men. They were Catholics, who were treated very badly in the UK at the time, so they plotted to blow up the King and all the Protestant aristocracy, at the state opening of Parliament on November 5th, 1605. Guy Fawkes Night is just an excuse for a party nowadays, with little thought given to the origins of the festivities. As we all know, fireworks are very hot, which is why we need to handle them carefully.

Next up is this shot of New Quay beach, in West Wales (not Cornwall!), taken on a hot summer's day. I stayed off the beach, as it was too crowded for me.

Hell is meant to be very hot, and here's one of Satan's minions. Well, actually, it's just my cat, Leo, trying to re-enact a scene from the Tommyknockers.

This candle holder was rather hot when I took this pic of it. It doesn't show in this pic, but it's a pretty blue colour, with multi-coloured glass gems stuck to it.

Finally, what could be hotter than the Sun? It was a very cold January day when this shot was taken, one of the first outdoor pics I ever took with my very first digital camera.

Those are my PhotoHunt pics for this week. More pics next week...

Great choices for this week's theme, Siani. Leo truly looks evil but we knew that already!

That was just a great gallery of shots, Siani, thanks for sharing.

Oh, and your link is not working in the comments on TNCHIK's place.

Thanks, both. Shaunie - Leo's undergone an amazing personality transplant recently - he's now a purry, kissy boy - but only sometimes.

Thanks Snoopy, my first link doesn't work, but I posted immediately afterwards with a working link - at least, I hope it's working!
