PhotoHunt: Classic

This week's theme is "Classic". It's been another week where I initially thought, WTF? Then I remembered the pics I took this Wednesday, of a classic Norman castle, which was built here in Wales during the twelfth century. This particular castle is at Coity, near Bridgend, in South Wales. If you're at all interested in the history of Coity Castle, you can find it here or here.

Anyway, here are my pics. As you can see, it's a classic ruin nowadays, albeit a very extensive and interesting ruin.

It was a pleasant day. I was with my cousin, who I hadn't seen for about 15 months, as he lives in London. We ended up at the castle quite by chance, after taking a wrong turning.

We had a picnic with us, so we sat and ate it at some picnic tables just outside the castle grounds. No, this isn't a classic castle ghost. It's my daft cousin, who decided to suddenly pop up in an archway, to try to scare me. That's classic behaviour on his part!

As we sat eating our food, a scene developed before our eyes, which could easily have been a classic one from an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Dozens of crows swooped around the castle keep, and rather spooked us, especially as it was Hallowe'en on Wednesday. Alas, I was too late to capture the scariest part - all I managed to get was an image of the last few stragglers flying around.

Anyway, that's my PhotoHunt for this week. Happy PhotoHunting, and have a great weekend.

Love it, Siani. Coity's one place I've never visited. I've obviously missed a lot.

I adore old castles, and ruins even more so! Those make a lovely series, calling me to come and visit. Strange about the birds. Only the other day I saw a huge flock of them settle on the lawn of the sheltered housing where my mother lives. It's very spooky to see.

Beautiful photographs. I want to bring my kids to the UK so that they can experience a real castle. The last time they came, they were very young, but we have photos of them at Edinburgh Castle.

That was quite an interesting outing for the two of you. The photos are great! Have you noticed,... those birds seem a lot bigger than they used to when you were little. I wonder what a birds life span is. Something I might look up one day. Great job on classic and have a good weekend.
