Keep the developers out!

Baytree Homes, a property developer, wants to build a housing estate in a Gower field, just off Brandy Cove Road. They submitted their original planning application last year. After a petition and much protest by local people, their application was rejected. Now, Baytree Homes has reared its ugly head again, with a revised application, and a claim that some of the housing will be "affordable". Affordable to who? Not me, or any other low income individual or family. Read the full story here.

To find out how you can get involved in the campaign to prevent this development, and any other unacceptable development of Gower's green fields, check out the Keep Gower Green! website. The thought of Gower disappearing beneath a concrete jungle of characterless housing estates, is horrific. Whenever I travel to Pennard cliffs by bus, I always wonder which idiot gave planning permission for that huge, incongruous housing estate alongside the golf course. What next? Barratt homes overlooking Mewslade? Let's hope the residents of Bishopston can garner enough support to put a final, fatal nail in the coffin of the Baytree Homes proposition.
