My laptop has developed a fault. Again. It's the little doodah-wotsit that the power lead plugs into at the back. The lead keeps slipping out. Every time that happens, the laptop switches to battery power, and my wireless network card dies. The only way I can use the laptop at the moment, is sitting up in bed, with my knees up, and the laptop balanced on my legs, with its bum in the air, and the body of it sloping downwards towards me. Otherwise, the wretched cable dislodges. The actual little connection thing it slots into is loose and waggling around. As soon as I can find or buy the correct screwdriver, I'm going in there to see if I can fix or replace it. If I can't fix it, and I suddenly vanish, you'll know my laptop is in for repairs. My old desktop is too hateful to struggle with - it's about 7-8 years old, and slower than a snail on sedatives. Technology - can't live with it, can't live without it.

Siani,
I sure know how that feels!
I'm computer challenged as it is, and when something goes wrong?
Holy Mother of Pearl Bailey, I'm so lost it's pathetic...
Here's wishing your comp a speedy recovering!
peace and white light,
Nick
Go for Apple Mac and feel happy
Oh how I feel your pain. When you think about all that has to be working right for us to be online, it's amazing these things work as well as they do most of the time. The problem is we get so used to being able to connect that when things go wrong (as they will eventually) it's very disruptive. We were experiencing heavy rains for the past 3 days and yesterday it finally invaded our telephone line, so my dsl was cutting out here and there. Luckily it all seems to be fine today. Technology is wonderful, but fragile. Good luck with your PC
Chris
Take my broadband away and I'm lost! Remove my computer and I tear my hair out - just can't live without it! I do hope yours gets well soon.
Oh my i wish you luck with the screwdriver, if i am reading right what your telling me its not a easy fix it yourself job. My first lap top had that problem and it was only 6 weeks old had to send it back, tool 6 weeks to have it fixed cause they had to get a whole new board from China or somewheres back there.
Good luck
My gosh - that's EXACTLY what was happening to mine! Then, all of a sudden, it just quit charging completely - wouldn't make the connection to charge. On that popular auction site, they sell chargers that come with something like 8 different sizes of the thingy-ma-bobs that plug into the laptop. Don't know if that would help you or not, but I thought I'd let you know.
Oh, no, I hope you can fix it. That is a nightmare!!!
I'm so glad that I have a rather new laptop now when I read this...
