Wedding fever!

One of my friends got engaged to her boyfriend recently. Although they don't intend getting married for a couple of years yet, due to financial considerations, their mothers have hijacked the wedding arrangements. So far, the mothers have decided the colors of the bridesmaids' dresses, the seating arrangements at the reception, and they have even designed the wedding invitations. Nightmare or what?

My poor friend's most perturbed by this well-meaning interference. She doesn't want her wedding hijacked. I've suggested she set each mother specific tasks to take care of, such as arranging for the printing and distribution of wedding invites, or choosing the bridal shower invitations. That way, they'll hopefully stay out of her hair without getting offended. After all, it's her and her fiance's big day, not the mums!

This strikes little close to home - I wish our boys would just hijack the girls to a registry and do the deed. They are living married anyway - as is the norm these days.
What appals me is the waste of money which could be used to set up home.

Congratulations to your friend.

I adored the weddings of both my daughter and son, and I loved the preparation but I hope I helped rather than took over!! It is particulalry the bride's day and she should be in charge!

Two of my close friends are getting married this year!

Anyway, that's the complete opposite of my friend's. She's still in Japan, she's going home to the Philippines in October. Wedding's in December, and yet, without her constant prodding, nobody's helping her out!
Yep, even their mothers aren't :D
