The curse of Google Reader

I started using Google Reader 2 or 3 months ago. It seemed like a good idea at the time. The only trouble is, I now tend to read blog feeds, rather than the feeds themselves. As a result, I'm not commenting half as much on other people's blogs, as I used to. Although I like the convenience of Google Reader, I've just realised that I'm losing touch with a lot of people. By reading the feed, and not commenting, people don't realise I'm still visiting them. Well, I jolly well am! I really must make greater effort to visit the actual blog posts, and leave comments. I read so many blogs and news feeds, I'd be lost without my feed reader, but it clearly also has its down side. I'm going to try to be a better blog visitor in future.

Siani, I love Google Reader! It comes up on my home-page and tells me when my favourite people have posted. I can read what they say, then I drop in quickly via the "show original item" link and bombard them with words. Without it time rushes past and I don't visit as often as I should. It keeps me on my toes.

I really like it, too - it saves me having a feed reader program installed on the computer. I guess I just need to click on those links!

Hi Sian,
I agree that I tended to stop posting on blogs after using Google Reader. I am no longer a fan of these things - I now like to read posts in context and in the manner the blog writer intended - on their blogs, et amongst their often carefully constructed design etc.
btw - did you know that the evening post is looking out for blog writers?
