Manic Monday

It's Manic Monday time again, and Lisa has come up with another trio of thought-provoking questions.

What is your idea of a perfect romantic evening?

I'm probably the most unromantic person in the whole wide world. I'm so not into romance and lovey-doveyness, LOL. I quite like inventing words, though. But my idea of a nice evening with a nice man (people tell me there are some nice men in the world!), would probably be good food and conversation, in a quiet, unpretentious bistro, followed by a sunset stroll along a beach or cliff top. But no mush or soppiness!

Imagine you had to take part in the winter Olympics. What sport would you do?

Seeing as I'm an arthritis sufferer, and will shortly be donning thermal underwear, two pairs of thermal socks, two layers of thermal fleece, a chunky-knit sweater, thermal leggings, jeans, as well as a thermal hat and gloves, just to brave an average winter morning here in the UK, this is going to take quite some stretch of the imagination. Okay, then. Let's pretend for a moment that I don't look like a creaky-boned Yeti whenever I venture outdoors during the winter. What would I go for? Probably something like the bobsleigh, or snowboarding. I'd probably fall over skis, and I'd get excluded from an ice hockey game, because if anyone bashed into me, the temptation to whack them with my hockey stick would be too great.

What's something that people do in traffic that really bothers you?

I don't drive, so I'll need to look at this from the perspective of a pedestrian. One thing I hate, is when drivers seem to forget they're not in the privacy of their homes, as they sit in their cars. Nose-picking and ear cleaning are both vile things that many drivers do. From a safety perspective, I despise drivers who use their phones whilst driving, especially people who drive and text at the same time. Using a phone at the wheel is a crime in the UK, yet people still do it. I also hate drivers who block pelican crossings. For non-Brits, this is a type of pedestrian crossing, and absolutely nothing to do with actual pelicans. Some drivers, when in a line of traffic, will stop their cars directly over the crossing. So when the green light comes on, pedestrians can't actually get across safely on the crossing.

Anyway, that's me done for this week. Happy Monday!

I don't do romance either.

You might find a nice male, but "men" are hard to come by, LOL.

My answers.

Hi! You are right about using phone while driving. It should be a no,no!

Hello Siani,

Yeah, I am not into those lovey-dovey stuff as well. But strolling along the beach sounds wonderful to me.

I am sorry to hear about your arthritis.

Thanks for explaining the pelican crossing too. :D At least the cars stopped. Over here in Malaysia authority need to put extra humps on the road to make sure drivers stop!

haha! but that's still romantic, I think. ^-^

Same here. I really hate those people who use their cellphone while driving. Here in Japan, some people do some phone texting while on a bicycle! It's really scary and irritating especially if I'm right behind that person.

Oh, darn, I forgot to include the walk along beach, admiring the sunset! I like those, too!

Sorry to hear about your friends getting a car accident (comment you left at my blog) but glad they're alive and well! Sadly, but so many others aren't that lucky!

I hope the cold months aren't too brutal on you and you're able to keep the arthritis suffering at a minimum.

Thank you for stopping by! *smiles*

I'm sorry to hear about your arthritis. I've dealt with joint pain since high school and I can absolutely sympathize. Some days are great - other days - when there's a steep temp drop - and I'm miserable. If I ever do start skiing again, it might be interesting...in the 10 years since I have, my body has changed *just* a bit! :-)

I'm with you - I'm kind of the anti-girl sometimes, because lovey-dovey just isn't me...I'm good with just spending quality time! :-) I love your idea of a stroll along the beach...I spent every summer growing up at the shore and I miss it now terribly. I also agree with you in that performing personal cleaning rituals while driving is just flat out gross. I don't want to see them picking or scratching or digging - ew! I've even seen a guy SHAVING in his car. Are you kidding me?! Great MM - have a fabulous week!

I am sympathetic of your arthritis. I recently broke my ankle and had to have a plate, 6 screws, and a pin surgically implanted to hold it together. That, along with my normal wear and tear as a dancer, I feel the limitations.
