Oh Lordi!

Watched Eurovision for the first time in at least 20 years last night. The things you do when your digibox conks out, eh? Even though it was a typically crappy Eurovision song, it was good to see Finnish rockers, Lordi, taking top spot, even if they do sound like a contrived and badly blended hybrid between Motorhead and Kiss. As to their look, it has been done so many times before, in one form or another, Slipknot or GWAR, for instance. So nothing original there, but nevertheless, it was good to see them win, rather than some talentless, singing toothbrush R&B wannabe, frilly-frocked country and western singer or anachronistic East European throwback to the dancehall era. I was chatting to my 73 year old mother on the phone at the time, and her comment on Lordi was: "ooh! dissssssgusssting. What does 'e look like? What a racket".
